At Move London 2025, Chris Heddle, Head of Sales and Partnerships at Volteras, and Alistair Colam, Northern Europe Sales at Mobilisights, sat down to discuss the mutual benefits of their partnership.
Mobilisights is the exclusive data provider for the 14 Stellantis brands—including iconic brands like Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, and Vauxhall—delivering raw data as a service. Volteras, meanwhile, has built the infrastructure that enables optimized data streaming between connected vehicles and businesses. The data streaming platform makes the data accessible, reliable and easy to use by working directly with OEMs.
The collaboration between Mobilisights and Volteras centers on a shared mission: providing energy and mobility industries with the top-quality data they need to innovate and grow. Giving the industry the tools it needs to become more efficient and sustainable paves the way to a cleaner energy future.
“We work directly with OEMs like Stellantis to access data through official channels,” explained Chris. “That means we can guarantee high-quality, secure data straight from the vehicle’s built-in telematics.”
Volteras then standardizes and simplifies that data, so fleet operators and solution providers can access a consistent data stream across brands. This is especially critical in a mixed-OEM environment, where managing multiple systems can quickly become complex.
One of the most immediate benefits of the partnership is traditional and electric fleet management. Volteras transfers data direct from Mobilisights like battery state of charge, charging sessions, and maintenance alerts, and translates it into insights for fleet operators.
Chris highlights: “We work with a range of customers, from fleets themselves to the companies managing charging infrastructure. Our focus is on electric fleets, so being able to deliver clean, usable EV data is key.”
Looking ahead, the next frontier for the partnership is battery health reporting. With secondhand EV sales on the rise, battery condition is becoming a critical factor in resale value and buyer confidence. An increasing number of customers are demanding hyper-accurate battery health certificates from reputable providers before they make a purchase. Certificates give peace of mind, which speeds up the sales cycle and can also increase a vehicle’s value.
“It’s one of the biggest asks from our customers,” says Chris. “And together with Mobilisights, we’re developing a solution to deliver reliable battery health data. That could have a huge impact on EV adoption.”
Smart charging is also a top priority. The ability to remotely start and stop charging sessions helps fleets better manage costs, grid demand, and vehicle readiness. But, as Alistair notes, this requires careful consideration: this vehicle command comes with complex requirements across hardware, software, legal, and privacy.
“We need to be thoughtful,” Alistair says. “We’re moving from one-to-one vehicle control to potentially one-to-many. That introduces important privacy considerations that we take seriously.”
Both Chris and Alistair acknowledge the fast-moving nature of the connected vehicle space—and the challenge of prioritizing innovation.
“Clear requirements and scale are key,” says Alistair. “As a global provider, we need to focus our development efforts where they can have the biggest impact.”
Volteras, meanwhile, is working across multiple verticals beyond fleets—insurance, energy, and more—each with its own data needs and opportunities.
Alistair explains how big the potential impact can be. “We're at the beginning of this journey, and we're harmonizing that data provision and we're providing value insights into the market. It's definitely new for OEMs to enter into this part of the market. But we're demonstrating that we can deliver and not only become established service providers, but we can also listen, innovate and then deliver new solutions on top of that.”
“What excites me,” says Chris, “is how much room there is to grow. Mobilisights is still young. Volteras is evolving fast. Together, we’re helping OEMs and customers make the most of connected vehicle data.”
With partnerships like the one with Volteras, Mobilisights is already enabling hundreds of thousands of vehicles to share data that helps drive real-world value.
As both organizations continue to collaborate, and listen to their customers, the future of EV data looks brighter than ever. Alistair summarizes: “I really value what we've built over the last 12 months and I’m excited and looking forward to how that develops over the coming years.”
